Magic Under the Stars

Community Cinema in Bagenalstown

CCC Cinemas (Cleere Caplice Community Cinemas) brought the magic of movies to Bagenalstown as part of the Creative Places Bagenalstown initiative. Organised by Mark Caplice and Joe Cleere, these special movie nights transformed various locations across Bagenalstown into enchanting hubs of community celebration. Each event turned a simple evening into a magical experience.

Mark and Joe, driven by their passion for creating meaningful cultural experiences, crafted a spectacular Halloween atmosphere for attendees in 2023. The Parlour was adorned with spooky decorations, accompanied by hauntingly themed music, and an immersive outdoor setup. Residents, young and old, came together to enjoy a shared adventure that went far beyond the movie screen.

Children filled the park with laughter, playing games with their friends and embracing the outdoor setting in a way that felt both novel and exciting. For families and neighbours, these nights provided a rare opportunity to socialise, connect, and enjoy a memorable experience without having to travel to distant cinemas. The joy of seeing a film outdoors, a rarity given Ireland's unpredictable weather, made the event all the more special.

These movie nights were more than just entertainment—they were celebrations of community spirit and creativity.

The events offered a platform for people to come together in their own town, fostering a sense of pride and shared connection. As part of the Creative Places Bagenalstown initiative, they emphasised the importance of accessible cultural activities that bring people closer through shared experiences.

Mark and Joe, along with their CCC Cinemas team, ensured that every detail was attended to, making the nights unforgettable. Attendees left with smiles, laughter, and stories to share, proving that local events like these have the power to strengthen the fabric of a community.

These movie nights will long be remembered as highlights of the first cycle of the Creative Places Bagenalstown programme (2022-24), shining a spotlight on the beauty of local collaboration, creativity, and the joy of simply coming together.
